Launching Blockchain Education for Everyone
The Government of Gibraltar has embarked on a great task – educating everyone in the territory and teaching them about blockchain and effectively spawning an army of tech-savvy underlings, grown-ups and people who are now looking to change their profession.
The Gibraltar Chronicle broke the news on October 19, sending ripples across the investment world. Let’s face it, everyone appreciates it when more efforts to prop up the technology are made and we are not going to say we are not such aficionados ourselves.
With this in mind, let’s look at exactly what Gibraltar is doing. The courses will be held under The New Technologies in Education (NTiE) initiative with the help of the Government and the University of Gibraltar allowing everyone interested to start learning from top tech firms.
All courses that will launch in the year will also be backed by a lot of the industry’s leaders who will be travelling to teach classes, hold panels and generally impart advice on how to prepare a crop of future entrepreneurs.
The initiative will effectively be “Providing access to innovative courses with expert input from those using this technology in the private sector is a vital component in the development of a sustainable distributed ledger technology (DLT) commercial community in Gibraltar,” according to University of Gibraltar Queen’s Counsel Gilbert Licudi.
Everyone is naturally excited about the upcoming changes that blockchain can bring around and as a result, you see a lot of people acting up on that news and flocking to deliver a change.
“The launch of the NTiE advisory group continues to build momentum for Gibraltar as a hub for new technologies, following the announcement in January 2018 that Gibraltar would be the first jurisdiction globally to introduce legislation around Distributed Ledger Technology.”
Changing Education Beyond Gibraltar
There are a lot of applications that Blockchain can be found useful for. For instance, Electrify, a Singapore-based company, is allowing its customers to snap up electricity off the grid by paying on the blockchain.
There are many good examples of companies that are adopting blockchain as well. For instance, Alibaba and JD are already pushing ahead with plans to launch their own networks which will cut costs tremendously.
However, the technology is now available to also change education in a most significant manner. You will see that more educational bodies are spoiling for a certificate that will allow them to teach blockchain.
This is the technology of the future, and it seems that it’s here to stay. We can’t blame it at all.
Blockchain is also used to help some of the day-to-day activities that educational bodies really want to address, such as, and not only limited to, making sure that everything is recorded. Tired of sending your CV around? All you need to do is have a good academic record and then the employers will come looking for you.
It’s as simple as that. The blockchain will also benefit the infrastructure security in quite the significant way, too, allowing the whole system to function without a hitch or incursions from third parties. Yes, it’s truly as simple as we make it sound.
Education will see great days ahead of it. Many are talking about the online university as a threat to the existing status quo. But with the adoption of blockchain, the status quo is already happening.
It’s quite easy to see why, too. When you come down to it, you will notice that blockchain will make all the data you own available on the ledger and boost the career prospect of everyone involved.
If there’s no demand for particular jobs, people can always rotate their specialties and pick the rest of the skills on the actual job.
